Over the past ten to fifteen years there has been a significant move amongst City companies away from corporate philanthropy – the simple donation of money to good causes – towards the active involvement of their employees in the development of community projects, often on a long term basis.

The evening was kindly sponsored by NM Rothschild and the presentations gave an insight into some of the City’s leading companies’ contributions in this area:

  • Caroline Pyke, Corporate Social Responsibility Executive, Rothschild: Rothschild’s own community involvement programme
  • Katy Miles, Project Manager, East London Business Alliance (ELBA): The impact that a long term partnership between companies and communities can have
  • Sarah Craner, Associate Director of Corporate Responsibility and Community Affairs, UBS: Project Shoreditch, a joint initiative between UBS, Deutsche Bank and Linklaters
