Oliver’s Wisemen proved themselves well-named when they stormed to victory in the annual Winter Warmer quiz held on 26 January 2010. (Click the picture for a fullsize image). The team of Sarah Hardy, Jo Cummins, Claire Morton, Philip O’Malley, Claire Evans and Lee Amoss from Oliver Wyman (and one E&Y extra) topped the leader board with an impressive score of 118; beating Team Gav in second place by a 2 point margin. TFPL Tigers were third with 111 points.

Sixteen teams took part representing a host of major information trades. The losers? –
well, yours truly does not mind recording that ‘Jack Horner’ limped in on 88 points, five behind their nearest rivals, a team containing no less than three SLA Europe board members. ASKTony – Steve – proved himself once again to be an entertaining quizmaster with a multimedia presentation of questions including music
and film clips. The groans and cheers as the answers were disclosed proved that people were really trying hard.

There was a great atmosphere all evening; the noise of chatter dimming only slightly when the pizzas arrived. How much of this chatter was friendly networking and how much was production of wild guesses, tip-of-the-tongue recollections and recriminations is yet unknown!

Sue Hill Recruitment generously sponsored the evening, including prizes awarded both to the overall winners and the highest scoring teams at each round. Individuals had a chance to shine, too, in the ‘True or False’ rounds.

Thanks to the Events Committee for their hard work for such a fun event.
