We are delighted to help promote the US Embassy in Rome’s Spring event, Biblionext, which will take place in Rome on Thursday 19 April. This event is co-organised by one of our previous IP Award winners, Gimena Campos Cervera, and has previously featured speakers from SLA Europe. Although SLA Europe will sadly not have a presence there this year, we hope that some of our members may be interested in attending what promises to be a fascinating event.
This year the focus will be on the Digital Omnivore. Who is this new being? How does he seek and use information, and how do we, librarians and information professionals, communicate with him? Come join us to discover this together, listening to remarkable American, European and Italian experts on digital media, libraries and new learning communities.
Speakers will include Lee Rainie, director of the Pew Internet & American Life Project, Erik Boekesteijn andJapp van de Geer , authors of the Sanachie Tour and This Week in Libraries, Matteo Bittanti, Professor in the Visual & Critical Studies programs at the California College of the Arts, Jeffrey Schnapp, Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, Jannik Mulvad, librarian at Mediaspace, Aarhus, Denmark, Nicola Cavalli, researcher and senior member of the Osservatorio sui Nuovi Media (NuMediaBiOs) of Milano Bicocca University, Francesco Mazzetta, director of the Biblioteca comunale Fiorenzula d’Arda, Karen Hartman, Information Resource Officer at the U.S. State Department, and Ross Todd, Director, Center for International Scholarship in School Libraries, State University of New Jersey.
