Review of SLA 2012 Chicago Conference by ECCA winner Simon Barron

Simon_BarronSimon was one of our Early Career Conference Awards winners for 2012. Along with Marie Cannon, Ruth Jenkins, Giles Lloyd-Brown, and Sarah Wolfenden, Simon attended the annual SLA Conference in Chicago from 15 to 18 July this year.

Simon is a librarian and writer currently working as E-resources Co-ordinator for Durham University in England. He campaigns for public libraries as part of Voices for the Library, writes articles and short stories, and is interested in National Digital Libraries, libraries’ role in academic and scientific research, and new technologies in libraries.

On his blog Undaimonia, Simon has now published three, of a planned series of four blog posts about his experience at the conference and visiting the United States for the first time.

They are both epic in length and analysis of many aspects of this potentially life changing trip for Simon, and I strongly recommend you have a read of the posts and the extensive comments.
