SLA 2014 starts on Sunday the 8th of June and below is a round up of SLA Europe members who will be speaking or receiving awards or honours at SLA Conference this year.
Events:
- SLA Europe has organised the SLA Spotlight Session: Working Across Cultures and is co-hosting the International Reception.
- Tracy Z. Maleff will be talking at SLA Hot Topic: Industry Research in Action: Enhancing the Value of Information Services and about SLA 2015 in Boston at the Closing Ceremony.
- Geraldine Clement-Stoneham will be speaking at the MY View – Scientific Open Access session and moderating our SLA Spotlight Session on Working Across Cultures.
- Annie Joan Olesen will be speaking at Borderless CI: Researching International Intelligence.
- Raouf Fria from Perfect Information will be giving out the B&F Division Distinguished Member Award as a sponsor.
- Samuel Wiggins will be speaking as one of this year’s Rising Stars at the Rising Stars and SLA Fellows Roundtable and presenting at the 60 sites in 60 minutes session.
Awards:
- Meghan Jones will be introduced as the inaugural LexisNexis Conference Scholar at the General Conference Opening and Awards Session.
- Tracy Z. Maleff will receive the inaugural Dow Jones Innovate Award at the General Conference Opening and Awards Session and the Legal Division’s Thomson Reuters Westlaw Career Achievement award at the Legal Division Meeting.
- SLA Europe will be honoured with the IT Division’s Outstanding Chapter Technology Programming Award on Monday night at the annual IT Dance Party.
- Niamh Tumelty will receive the Bonnie Hilditch International Librarian of the Year Award at the Engineering Division’s Business Meeting and Luncheon.
- Marie Cannon will be introduced as the Legal Division’s International Travel Grant winner at the Legal Division Meeting.
- Our 2014 ECCAs (Michelle Bond, Rosie Hare and Lindsay Robinson) will be introduced at the International Reception.
SLA Europe Members may also wish to come along to the Chapter cabinet meeting to hear about wider affairs that may affect the chapter on the Monday at 5.30pm. SLA Europe will be represented by Don Roll and Samuel Wiggins as President and President-elect.
