SLA Europe is pleased to announce the winners of the Early Career Conference Awards 2016, in partnership with the Academic, Legal and Science-Technology Divisions of SLA. Congratulations to Helen Monagle, Helen Doyle, and Matthias Ammon. The ECCA winners will attend the SLA Conference & INFO-EXPO in Philadelphia from 12-14 Juni 2016.
Helen Monagle is co-sponsored by the Academic Division. Helen is a Serials Librarian at Manchester Metropolitan University. She successfully completed Chartership in July 2015 and graduated with a master’s degree in Library and Information Management from Manchester Metropolitan University. Helen’s interests include cataloguing, UX, facilitating access to e-resources, statistics and development opportunities for new professionals. She is one of the co-founders of NLPN, a network for new and aspiring library professionals.
Helen Doyle is co-sponsored by the Legal Division. Helen obtained her undergraduate degree in Classics from Cambridge University in 2008 before working as a graduate trainee at Lincoln’s Inn. She then received an MA in Librarianship and Information Studies from UCL in September 2011, whilst undertaking Library Assistant work at Inner Temple. She joined the Library and Information Services team at Norton Rose Fulbright as an Information Officer in March 2013. Helen also has an interest in cataloguing. She has been Treasurer of CILIP’s Catalogue & Index Group for three years and combined this with her interest in law at the 2015 Biall konferens, where she gave a paper on the latest cataloguing standards and their application to law libraries.
Matthias Ammon is co-sponsored by the Science-Technology Division and receives the Diane K. Foster Memorial Award. Matthias a Library Services Administrator in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, having previously worked in several other libraries across the University and as a school librarian. He is currently studying for an MA in Information and Library Studies via distance learning at Aberystwyth University.
Early Career Conference Awards täcker alla kostnader inklusive Konferensregistrering, transport, mat, logi, och oförutsedda utgifter. It is with great excitement that we are able to announce the 2016 Tidiga karriär Conference Award vinnare. This year we received a high number of applications for each award, from lots of enthusiastic and committed early career professionals. Our winners this year stood out by showing dedication and great potential in their chosen specialist fields. The Early Career Conference Award is a fantastic opportunity for new professionals to be exposed to all that SLA and the profession has to offer, and we are certain that they will find conference in Philadelphia to be an excellent professional development opportunity. Members of the Board look forward to meeting the winners at the conference, where they will be formally presented with their awards at the International Reception.

SLA Europe’s Early Career Conference Awards are now in their tenth year and are awarded annually to library and information professionals who have been working for less than five years since library school or are enrolled in a European graduate-level programme of study in LIS. Applicants are required to be first-time attendees at an SLA Annual Conference and interested in a career related to their co-sponsoring division. Ansökningsprocessen innebär att skriva ett personligt uttalande, ger en up-to-date CV, och få en rekommendation från en professionell inom LIS området.
