There is a lot to report from across the SLA Europe Chapter since my last post two months ago. As we careen towards 2014 and Kate Arnold’s presidential year, SLA continues to develop its “beyond borders” strategy. This has seen a number of Chapter members invited to contribute to HQ activities resulting in some changes to our Board for 2014.
If so, the SLA Europe Nominating Committee invites you to nominate yourself or recommend a colleague, to serve as President Elect from June 2013, and become President
in January 2014, of the SLA’s European Chapter.
The SLA Europe Board is delighted to announce the winners of the SLA Europe Early Career Conference Awards 2013. The winners, who will attend the SLA Conference & INFO-EXPO in San Diego from 9th-11th June 2013, are Penny Andrews, Lizzie Caperon, Lauren Lawler, and Laura Williams. After a very successful year, Darron Chapman is handing over presidency of SLA Europe to Stephen Phillips. Our new SLA Europe President-Elect for 2013 is Jackie Marfleet.
As my Presidential year comes to an end on the 31 December 2012 I would like to extend my deepest thanks to you for your continued support of SLA Europe and for making my year as President an enjoyable experience. With your generous help, SLA Europe in 2012 was able to provide the information community with a range of excellent networking and professional development opportunities. Your generous support was particularly welcomed this year as SLA Europe celebrated its 40th Anniversary.
