BIALL Legal Foundations -kurssi
Booking is now open for the 2021-22 BIALL Legal Foundations -kurssi.
This is an online course delivered in conjunction with the University of Westminster which will be of particular interest to new entrants to the legal information profession.
The course provides a grounding in legal concepts for librarians, knowledge managers and information workers. It is not a course on how to conduct legal research, but rather a way of getting to grips with the concepts and terminology used in the legal profession, providing you with a better understanding of the law in England and Wales and how it has been applied in various subject areas. Watch this video for more information.
Subjects covered include: the English Legal System, Contract, Crime, Employment, Liiketoiminta, Immigration Law and more. Participants cover six core subjects before the Christmas break and then choose which optional modules they would like to take in the new year. It is necessary to take a minimum of four optional modules to pass but students can take up to 11. Video lectures with slide presentations are released weekly with multiple-choice questions to solidify learning and an opportunity to converse with fellow students and the course leader through the virtual learning environment.
