SLA Europe is delighted to end another year with an amazing array of events and webinars. We are now looking forward to planning various events for 2025. As our 2025 President Hilary Oakley moves to take on the mantle from our 2024 President Julia Bhojoo, we are thrilled to announce our new President-Elect for 2025, Tsveta Rafaylova.
Tsveta works as a Research Librarian at the law firm Herbert Smith Freehills in London. Before entering the legal information sector, she held the position of senior researcher at the accountancy firm RSM, previously known as Baker Tilly. Tsveta earned her MA in Library and Information Studies from University College London in 2020 and also has an MA in English Literature from the University of Glasgow, having graduated in 2017. She has been actively involved with SLA since 2018, receiving the Student and Early Career Award to participate in the inaugural SLA Europe Conference held in Cambridge in 2019 and she was one of three ECCA winners who attended the 2020 virtual SLA conference. Following this experience, Tsveta started volunteering with the SLA Europe Board in late 2020, initially as the conference coordinator and organised the international event which involved arranging a 50th anniversary cake that was very popular with those who attended the 2022 SLA conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. Currently, Tsveta holds the roles of Secretary and Membership Chair for SLA Europe and was recently one of three SLA members honoured with the 2024 James M. Matarazzo Rising Star Award.
