It was announced on the 23 May that the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) and the Special Libraries Association (SLA) have entered into formal negotiations to pursue a merger of the two organisations.
As SLA are now recommending both a merger and dissolution, which will happen concurrently, we, therefore encourage all SLA members to review the framework document that provides information about the merger with ASIS&T and provide feedback regarding the merger framework.
Members can submit their feedback regarding the merger using the dedicated form between 6 June to 2 July 2025.
The SLA Merger Working Group plans to have a final version of the merger and dissolution plan open for voting to both memberships July 17, 2025, with voting closing on August 18, 2025.
