Survey to map the UK workforce in the Information & Knowledge sectors

Hazel Hall, Professor of Social Informatics in Edinburgh Napier University, sent us the following message around a survey that is currently taking place by CILIP and ARA.

I don’t know if you are already aware that my group at Edinburgh Napier University is currently working on a CILIP/ARA commissioned project to map the UK workforce in the libraries, archives, records, information and knowledge sectors? If so, as a member of this workforce, I hope that you have already had a chance to complete the survey at http://bit.ly/workforcemap. If not, I hope that I can encourage you to do so. As well as helping us with the research, by completing the survey respondents could also win £200 worth of vouchers of their choice.

Please could you also spread word of the survey amongst colleagues who work in libraries, archives, records management, information management and knowledge management? We are interested in the views of all workers at all levels, whether in paid or unpaid employment. In particular we need to reach people in RM, IM and KM, who are under-represented in our survey returns to date.

The survey takes no more than 15 minutes to complete, and has been designed so that it can be completed on a range of devices, but it is most accessible on a desktop, laptop or tablet computer.

(I’ve blogged about the background to this project at http://hazelhall.org/2015/03/12/put-yourself-on-the-map-complete-the-workforce-mapping-project-survey/ should you be interested in learning more about it.)

Many thanks

Hazel Hall
